Health Care Policy
If your child has the following conditions or symptoms or conditions, cure we will contact you to pick up your child from FKS (within
1 hr) in order to prevent contamination of the other children & staff, and to provide comfort to your child.
? Fever of 100.5 degrees or higher
? Any rash that is suspicious of a contagious childhood disease
? Vomiting accompanied by other symptoms (fever, rash, diarrhea, crankiness etc.)
? One bout of vomiting in a 24 hour period
? Diarrhea accompanied by other systems (fever, rash, vomiting, crankiness, etc.) or uncontrollable diarrhea (stool runs out of the diaper or
clothing, child can’t make it to the bathroom in time.
? Two bouts of diarrhea in a 24 hour period.
? Any skin rash, lesions or wounds with bleeding or oozing of clear fluid or pus.
? Conjunctivitis also called, “pink eye” with white or yellow discharge.
? Mouth sores with drooling.
? Any conditions preventing the child from participating comfortably in usual program activities.
? Any illness or condition or illness that requires one on one care.
? Scabies, head lice or other infestations.
? Consistent, uncontrolled nasal discharge or constant, uncontrolled productive cough (raising phlegm).
? Any of the following contagious illnesses which are reportable to the Department of Public Health as cited, in the Manual of Requirements
for Licensing: German measles, Hemophphilus, Influenza, Measles, Meningococcal, Mumps, Tuberculosis, Whooping Cough, Giardia
Lambiia, Hepatitis A, Salmonella, & Shigella.
After a child was excluded for any reasons, in order to return to the program, the following conditions must be met:
? A child must be free from fever, vomiting and/or diarrhea (without symptoms) for a full 24 hours without medication.
? Any child prescribed an antibiotic for a current bacterial infestation must take the prescribed medication for the child must be free of open
a full 24 hour course before returning.
? The child must be able to participate comfortably, in all usual program activities, including outdoor time.
? The child must be free of open, oozing skin conditions unless
? 1) a healthcare provider signs a note stating that the condition is not contagious
? 2)the involved area(s) can be covered by a bandage without seeping of drainage through the bandage.
? A child excluded because of lice, scabies, or other infestation may return 24 hours after treatment is begun with a note from a doctor
stating that the child is larva or nit free.
? If a child was excluded because of reportable contagious illness, a doctor’s note stating that the child is no longer contagious is required
prior to re-admission.
? If the circumstance where the child’s parent is also a doctor, the note must come from another physician that is not the child’s parent
The final decision whether to exclude a child from the program is made by FKS.
